Closing Arguments Near in McDonnell Corruption Case

Testimony concluded today in the federal corruption trial against former Virgina governor Bob McDonnell and his wife Maureen.  Closing arguments are expected for tomorrow.

Unlike her husband, Mrs. McDonnell did not take the stand, and presented a defense consisting of only a few hours of testimony from her daughter and three other witnesses.  The daughter buttressed the governor’s earlier testimony that his marriage with Maureen was dysfunctional: for the governor work and children came first but “My mom came last.”

The feds put on a brief rebuttal case this morning and then rested.
